Baseball Cards Price

Baseball Card Collecting ..................BLAH!?

Ive collected some baseball cards from 1987-1993. Id say I have 700 cards from Topps, Donruss, Fleer, Upper Deck, etc.etc.14 years later I find out these are basically completely worthless. I checked all the price guides and looked for rookie cards and everything. I'm disappointed and want to know whats the best way of getting rid of these? Should I sell them? If so where and how or should I trash or donate them? Thanks

  1. I wouldnt trash them, throw the entire collection on Ebay and see what you will get for them. They might be worth something to a collector who might be missing that one particular card. You would be surprised what people will buy and what they may pay for it.
  2. The bottom fell out of the BB card collecting hobby in the mid 90's. There was just to many cards on the market. The only real money in the BB cards is in the older cards prior to the 70's. Unfortunately the steroid scandal has also hurt the rookie cards. I have two Mark McGuire rookie cards a Barry Bonds rookie and my personal favorite a Jose Canseco rookie card that he autographed for me on the field in Oakland. They are all worth a fraction of what they used to be. Your cards may be worth something someday again, but do you want to take up space with them or just dump them? Maybe you should put them away and pass them onto your kids or grandkids. Ebay may be a way to sell them but be prepared to get a small amount for them. Don't feel so bad there are a lot of guys like us out there who have the same problem.
  3. Unfortunatley for you you picked years to collect cards that cards were over produced. Thus putting you in your current predicament. You basically have two chioces 1. You can store the cards and leave them for your children or grand children as alot of these cards will be destroyed by accident or improper storage and slowly rise in value.2 you can give them away to another collecter to get rid of them , most avid collecters will be glad to take these cards off your hands. Rember when buying cards of any sort always check a price guide and sell when the cards are in high demand. For example cards are worth more when a player dies or commits a major crime such as o.j. simpson or sets a record like bonds, but if the player has a questionable reputation the quicker you sell them the better off you are.
