Baseball Cards Price

Does Beckett no longer make their monthly sports card price guides?

Back when I collected, there was a Beckett baseball, football, and basketball card monthly magazine. Now Im interested in researching the value of my collection and and cant find the magazines anywhere. Are they no longer in business or do they only make annual price gudes now? Thanks----

  1. As of the April 2008 issue, released the first week of March '08, Beckett has re-formatted to a multi-sport monthly magazine simply called "Beckett Sports Card Monthly" (BSCM). Beckett will still have magazines dedicated to each of the four major sports, but they will only be available on a bi-monthy basis. As of this posting, many bloggers have mixed opinions as to the "all-inclusive" pricing of the new magazine, as it only covers the "hottest" and newest cards. For those collectors who want to price their collections that are a year old or more, this magazine is not for them. Many collectors are also angry about the increased newsstand price of $7.99 US. For the increased price, many have seen a significant decrease in pricing content. The bi-monthly magazine has a newsstand price of $9.99, but lacks the "up-to-date" pricing that was popular with the monthly issue. The new format, for many, resembles that of the multi-sport "Tuff Stuff" magazine, but for a higher price tag. If your collection is older than 2007, you may want to look into the online version of the priceguide ($5.99 per month), or seek help from your local card dealer who will most likely have an annual price guide or copies of the sport-specific bi-monthlies for you to look at. Hope this info helps, and thanks for your interest.
