- Passengers must be able to walk from the aircraft door to their seat. Totally incapacitated passengers are not allowed on board for safety reasons. This was changed some years ago. Regards, Dan
- Actually Dans answer is not completely correct. United Airlines (mainline, not sure about express) does have aisle chairs to board passengers that have no mobility. I'm not sure about Air New Zealand and Air France. That aside, unless the passenger is able to climb the stairs, then you would have to stay on the main deck. For UA, the 747 upper deck is business class, not first class. The good thing is, there is business class seats on both the upper deck as well as the main deck, so if you are holding business class seats, you should be fine. - Any persons that are not able to get to there seats are not able to fly.
