Why does Beckett Baseball Price Guide cost so much?

I am starting to collection baseball cards once again. I was noticing that Beckett now costs $9.99 an issue. What gives? Why does a price guide need to cost so much? It didn't used to. In my opinion that is a bit steep for a magazine.

1. People must be buying it because otherwise they wouldn't be selling it at that price. I'm sure you could get a subscription for a lot less per copy.
2. It's much cheaper if you sign up for an online subscription. I think it's $36 for 6 months.

4. Why does it cost that much? I would guess that it's very labor-intensive to keep updating the prices of so many cards. Also, consider that with each passing year, the guide is going to get larger as new cards are issued.
5. But just think of how many fish you can wrap with it!
