- 1985 to 1993 was the WORST time to invest in baseball cards. Companies flooded the market and tons of non-collectors bought them up thinking they'll make money down the road. Check on ebay or Craig's list at how many people are trying to dump cards from that era. Also notice how none of them are selling. Truth is the cards are worth less now then they were 20 years ago. Consider yoursef lucky if you could get $5.00 for you cards. edit: Don't you just love people that come in and give everybody a thumbs down yet doesn't answer the question themself? Or is it the person asking the question giving the thumbs down and if so, why? What do you think they're worth?
- Utter is correct. Read his post again, there will be no better answer. Also, it's spelled "Topps." You have the cards right there in front of you, yet you continually misspell probably the simplest baseball card name there is. Amazing. Take a basic English class and learn what the caps button on your keyboard is used for. Hope this helps.
- The players you've never heard of are called 'commons' and they're not worth anything except to a set collector that needs one to finish a set. The star cards may have some value depending on what you have. The serious overproduction began in 1988. From 1985 to 1987 there were a few decent rookies that have some value, but Ryan cards might only be worth 25 cents, to the right person. Finding a buyer for groups of cards like this takes more time and work than it's worth, which is why there's tons of the stuff just sitting around collecting dust. Rookies to look for: Topps: 1985 Mark McGwire, Roger Clemens, Kirby Puckett 1987 Barry Bonds Donruss: 1985 Roger Clemens, Kirby Puckett 1986 Jose Canseco - When this card came out, it was the hottest thing there was, getting to over $100. Some people will still pay a couple of dollars for one. 1987 Greg Maddux, Barry Bonds The big stars like Ryan and Ripken and some of the other Hall of Famers might be worth a few dollars packaged together in one group. The commons just go along for the ride, for free. Assuming the cards are in pretty much untouched condition the way they came out of the packs. If they've been handled, forget it. The autographed cards are pretty much worthless. Neither of those guys ever went anywhere in baseball.
