my mam said that the first plane she flew in was a boeing 747 but it had no upper deck ?
how is that possible? cause all 747s have ann upper deck (ps when i say an upper deck i mean there was no hump on top, no stairs ,no nothing just like any other plane) she keeps on saying she was on a 747 but i told her there's no such thing as a 747 whith no upper deck on it and NO IT WAS NOT A CONVERTABLE!!!! but good guess

- maybe it woz a convertible.....
- She wasn't on a 747 then. edit: I'm sorry, but your mom is wrong. Even the first prototype 747 had an upper deck. Now some very early 747's upper decks were only for the cockpit and a lounge area, and not general passenger seating, but they did have a staircase going up there and a 'bulge' on the top/front of the fuselage. How long ago was this? I'm guessing that she is confusing the 747 with the other 4-engined airliners... 707, DC8? The 747 is probably the most recognizable airliner. There's no way one could confuse it from another.
- Then she's full of it. My mother thought an Air Jamaica A340 (r.i.p.) was a 747 because it had 4 engines. Maybe she was on a 707, DC-8, or A340. I'm guessing it was one of the first two since by "first plane" she's implying that she was a kid. A340 wasn't around then if your mom is 40ish.
- All 747 models have an upper deck, even the very first prototypes. Either she didn't fly in a 747, or she has forgotten about the upper deck.
- Although all series models of 747s have upper decks, some are not as apparent to the eye (from an exterior view) as the original 747-100. The upper deck or 'hump' on some models are extended and gradually tapered into the main fuselage without as much of a marked delineation. If she missed seeing the staircase once onboard, it might be possible ....
- Hi: Sorry but in this case Mom is not always right. All 747's have upper levels. russ
- All the 747's have the upper deck inside the "hump", even the prototype. Moms are never wrong, but they can be mistaken. This is one of those times.
- if it had 4 engine it either was a A340 or maybe she forgot about the upper deck or its stairs to go up there. ask her where she was going and what airline it was.
- Thats not possibuel
- Sorry but she's just wrong. Many non-pilots can't tell one plane from another. All 747's have an upper deck, never made one without it.
- She is mistaken in some way. Either she was not on a 747, or she just didn't see the forward compartment where the stairs are. If she wasn't flying first class, she may never have had a chance to see it. And if it was the first time she ever flew, it's very understandable that she might be mistaken. She was likely very excited about the whole experience.
