Baseball Cards Price

How can I determine the value of my baseball card collection? Where could I sell it?

I have approximately 150 baseball cards mostly from 1988 and 1989 of various players. Is there some website i could go to for the value of this collection? Where should I list them for sale?

  1. the easiest way to find the price is to find a card shop and have them appraised. You could sell them on ebay far the same amount as a starting price.
  2. Not sure about pricing, but as far as selling them try Livesimon.com or LiveSimonPosts.com http://www.LiveSimon.com has both auctions and classifieds and has some great features. http://www.LSPosts.com offers posts by city and there is no need to register.
  3. Try and post it on ValueJockey.com. It is free and a great place to find out the value of just about everything. Include a picture in the listing, it helps a lot. http://www.valuejockey.com/
  4. For pricing, you could try RarityGuide.com's Price Check Forum. Many collectors monitor the forum and would be able to help you appraise your collection. http://www.rarityguide.com/forums/price-check/
  5. I'm going to be honest with you. 1988 and 1989 were basically the two worst years to have along the lines of baseball cards. There are a few players whose cards are worth a dollar each or more (basically, Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripken Jr, and a few rookies like Ken Griffey Jr and Randy Johnson). I suggest you look on eBay for a few of the players if you recognize their names (search something along the lines of "1989 Topps Tony Gwynn"). If you really still want to try to sell them, I suggest you put them all together in a lot and sell them on eBay. Most of the value in cards lies in pre-1980s, autographs, game-used, and superstar rookies.
