Ted Williams Leaf Baseball card value?

I have a Ted Williams Baseball card from a family estate. On the back it says it is a leaf with the date 1949. I have it listed on ebay and someone is telling me I should pull it off that it is worth thousands if graded. They also said it is a 1948 (it says 1949). It appears to be in excellent condition. I've always felt I got whatever something was worth on ebay. Any ideas what I should do?

  1. I'd bring it to an appraiser or a card shop and ask. I don't know anything about grading, but if it's a Ted Williams card, I would hold onto it because ANYONE in the Boston area (myself include) would pay good money for it.
  2. Definately pull it off and get it graded first. It is the differance between a few hundred and a few thousands... Graded and un-graded...
  3. take it off ebay immediately check out a beckett baseball card guide - a card of this magnitude would surely be in there with it's value (based on what a collector would pay) you should also have it graded to really find out the true value of the card - you can send it away to different companies that perform this service
  4. I would say you have a very valuable card . Of course the value depends on he overall condition of the card. One like this in very good condition is probably worth about $600-700. In Excellent condition probably $1200-1500 and in Near Mint probably $2000-2500. Of course those are only my guess as I'm a collector myself. Have this card graded and if you want to sell it, auction it off to the highest bidder with the realization you're probably gonna get maybe half the book value. Hope I helped you.
